iloveorphans.com is simply a group of all people who want to love the unloved orphans in Africa . The story of how we began starts with a trip to Uganda in 2004 that resulted in us forever being changed and touched by the lives of the orphans living there. In the fall of 2006, we decided to take action and established an organization and website by the same name: iloveorphans.com. Since then we have raised over $120,000 for the children in Bukalba, Uganda. The First Phase of our Children's Center opened in December, 2009, and we are currently raising funds for the Bukaleba Nursery School.

In 2004, six of us spent two weeks in Uganda: our lives were never again the same. We spent our time in and around Jinja, a city in southeastern Uganda, located on the banks of Lake Victoria at the source of the famous Nile River. Teaming up with an organization called Arise Africa and its saintly staff, we received the full Ugandan experience and were able to speak in schools, visit orphanages, hike the jungle, encourage those with AIDS and other diseases, raft the Nile, preach and sing in churches, and safari. Upon returning to the United States, we quickly decided that another team must go back the next summer to continue the work. In the summer of 2005, the team returned to Uganda with new and old faces and had yet another life-changing experience.

We have now been called to respond to the immense suffering the people of Uganda experience every day. Our pictures, memories, and stories serve as daily reminders of our friends in Uganda who so desperately need love. Pictures and memories, however, will do nothing to change their plight. We have decided to take action.

We often hear about the millions of orphans who die each year in Africa. Thanks to the generous giving of a few, millions of orphans are also given the chance to LIVE each year. Many Ugandan orphans personally shared with us their stories of being supported by people from all over the world. We feel called to love these children by funding the building and operation of an orphanage that will literally rescue hundreds of children from despair. We hope that you also want to be one of those people and join us in loving these children who so desperately need it.
